Severe Tooth Pain
Throbbing, sharp, or constant pain that is making it hard to sleep, eat, or focus. Often a sign of infection, decay reaching the nerve, or a cracked tooth that needs prompt attention.
Broken or Chipped Tooth
Trauma, an accident, or biting on something hard. Our on-site CEREC lab can often restore the tooth the same day, with a permanent crown made while you wait.
Lost Crown or Filling
A crown that came off, or a filling that fell out and left a hole. Usually fixed in a single visit. No two-week wait for an outside lab.
Dental Abscess or Infection
Visible swelling, a pimple-like bump on the gum, fever, or a bad taste in your mouth. Treat this fast. Infections can spread and become serious.
Jaw or Gum Swelling
Swelling that is getting worse, not better, especially with pain. Needs to be evaluated quickly to rule out a serious infection.
Knocked-Out or Loose Tooth

Dr. Wilkinson performs a focused exam to diagnose the problem quickly. Digital X-ray if needed. You will know what is going on and what your options are.
Same-Visit Treatment Where Possible
Many emergencies can be resolved during the first appointment thanks to our on-site CEREC lab. Broken teeth restored, lost crowns replaced, infections addressed.
Follow-Up Care
If your emergency needs longer-term treatment, like a crown after a root canal, we will plan it together with clear pricing and financing options upfront.

Dr. Brian Wilkinson, DDS
Pioneer in Digital Dentistry | Principal Dentist
Dr. Wilkinson purchased Shallowford Smiles in 2006 and has been treating dental emergencies for Chattanooga patients ever since. He completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Loma Linda University in 2005, and pursued advanced training in dental implants in 2008.
In 2015, he brought the practice's first digital dental scanner on board, pioneering digital dentistry in the area. That investment in technology underpins everything he does today, including the on-site CEREC lab that allows broken teeth, lost crowns, and other emergencies to be resolved during a single appointment.
Patients describe him as someone who explains things clearly, never rushes, and prioritizes comfort, especially for patients coming in stressed or in pain. Conscious sedation is available for patients with dental anxiety, and the team is trained to create a calm, low-pressure environment from first call to final appointment.
